Colmore Food Festival

Anyone who knows me know how much I love my food and that’s why this weekend I was excited to go to the Colmore Food Festival in Victoria Square. The festival was a chance for the public to sample the culinary delights the Colmore District has to offer, and it didn’t disappoint.

The first thing I tried was the hot dog from the soon to open Nosh and Quaff  which went down a treat. For £3 I got a gourmet Frankfurter, oak smoked and seasoned with paprika, nutmeg and black pepper, served with pickles, mustard and caramelised onions. (Source:

Thank god I was given a napkin because things got pretty messy! I’m definitely going to be checking out Nosh and Quaff when it opens if the rest of their food is like this.

Next up I tried the salted caramel profiteroles which was amazing (I can’t for the life of me remember where from, silly me),  I love salted caramel and these had just the right amount of flavor so that they weren’t too sickly.

From the Edwardian Tearooms I tried their afternoon tea taster box which for £3 was well worth the money – it included cheese sandwiches on a citrus flavored bread, and ham and salsa on green bread ( I don’t think this was flavored but I could be wrong). The box also contained 3 little cakes, red velvet, apple and cinnamon and a little scone. I even got a cup of tea, which would probably cost about £3 if you were to buy it in a cafe.

As well as food there was also a selection of cocktails being showcased. From Bar Opus I tried the Picnic Gin which had watermelon juice in which was really revealing in the heat. I also tried the English Garden cocktail from Gingers bar which had a zesty lime flavour to it, perfect for a summers day.

As a foodie I really enjoyed the Colmore Food Festival, it was great to experience what the restaurants and cafes of Colmore Row have to offer as it’s not an area i tend to visit often. I’ll definitely be visiting Nosh and Quaff when it opens and also the Edwardian Tea Rooms at Birmingham Museum and  Art Gallery – I even got a 15% off voucher for their afternoon tea so I’ll definitely be using that!

This Saturday I’m going to another food festival (told you I loved food), at Shugborough Hall with my parents which I’ll be posting about next week 🙂
